What is a Transformer

A Transformer is an electrical device installed to step-up or step-down a voltage for power transmission and distribution, and is an important electrical device in power receiving and substation equipment.

It consists of an iron core (core), a primary winding (power supply side), and a secondary winding (load side).
It utilizes the electromagnetic induction of AC power applied to the winding, and the voltage variation is based on the primary and secondary turns ratio.

Traditionally, the silicon steel sheet has been used for the core, but there is no regularity in the atomic arrangement. The amorphous alloy has been developed to significantly reduces the energy loss.

A transformer that uses this amorphous alloy iron core is called an amorphous transformer.
When the amorphous alloy core is installed, hysteresis loss (no-load loss) is reduced, and the eddy current is also reduced because the plate thickness is thinner than that of the silicon steel sheet.
